Justified provocation?

Honestly, I dunno...

The video starts off quite brilliantly I thought, looking a bit like a caricature of populist evening news-style reporting: black hooded teens springing from the shadows, walking with a threatening look on their face etc...

But then, instead of playing on the obvious stereotypical portrayal, it seems to just play *along* with it. To such an extent that it's really hard seeing any other point to it than "the youth of today, my lad, they're up to no good, y'know".

The rest plays like a poor-man rerun of La Haine or Clockwork Orange, with none of the originality of the former or the insightful social commentary of the latter...

As a past resident of Paris (and any other major Western metropolis), some scenes ring true indeed, but in the absence of any deeper message, that makes it even harder to see this video as anything but an exercise in fear-mongering and populist politics... Which I am sure wasn't the intent, but still...
I admire these guys for their music, but I understand they started as designers, right? I am sure there is an underlying message if the video is what you explained.

Unfortunately the video is down... :(
